Ecolabel
Ton van den Oever Nurseries has moved another step forward in the environmentally-friendly cultivation of avenue trees. Since September 2008 we have been certified by the Ecolabel Milieukeur!
In practical terms this means that many of the practices that were previously taken for granted are changing. Hence chemical pesticides will only be used from now on if there is no alternative. Milieukeur also focuses far more on the use of natural predators to combat harmful insects. A disease or pest is usually tackled chemically, but now this will be replaced with a natural solution. The use of crop protection agents is now restricted to a minimum. This is clearly a step beyond ISO 14001 or the legal requirements.
More and more municipal councils and other buyers are specifying this quality mark as a prerequisite for the products that they purchase. This makes sense, since a green solution is a long-term solution. Ton van den Oever is taking up the challenge!
